What is S1Vave?

S1Vave is an open-source custom firmware that transforms the portable M-VAVE FM-1 synthesizer hardware (JieLi AC791N 32-bit RISC core) into an advanced 8-Voice Polyphonic Synthesizer with classic analog modeling character.

Every parameter has been modeled and calibrated with high-precision DSP:

  • 8-Voice Polyphonic Engine: MONO (with legato glide/auto-portamento), UNISON (8-voice analog lead/bass stack), POLY (dynamic 8-voice polyphony), and CHORD (programmable chord memory).
  • Oscillator Core: PolyBLEP anti-aliased Sawtooth, Square with Pulse Width Modulation (PWM via manual, envelope, or LFO), and sub-oscillator modes (-2o.A 25% asymmetric pulse, -2oc square, -1oc square), plus calibrated Pink & White noise.
  • Synthesizer Innovations: OSC DRAW (16-step wavetable drawing with Step & Slope interpolation) and OSC CHOP (harmonic comb slicing with depth multiplier).
  • Cascaded 4-Pole (24 dB/oct) Filter: $20\text{ Hz} \dots 20\text{ kHz}$ calibrated cutoff curve with analog self-oscillation, key tracking, and dual filter character modes (Clean Analog Model and Warm Midnight drive).
  • Calibrated ADSR Envelopes: Exponential RC curve models measured with precision hardware response times.
  • Modulation & Studio Stereo FX: 6-waveform LFO with Fast audio-rate mode ($\sim 100\text{ Hz}$), 4-model Stereo Chorus, Tempo-Synced Ping-Pong Delay, and high-density Dattorro Plate Reverb.
  • Dual-Track 64-Step Sequencer & 64 Factory Presets: Pattern ratcheting, probability, motion recording, and 64 pre-loaded classic sound programs.

Hardware Panel Controls (M-VAVE FM-1)

The M-VAVE FM-1 hardware features 4 push-encoders (K1–K4), 8 function buttons, and 16 step keys. Tapping any button immediately reveals its control page:

Hardware Controller & Monitor (Patch Editor)

Manage and visualize your M-VAVE FM-1 (S1Vave) parameters in real time over WebMIDI:

  • Full 59-Parameter Control Surface: OSC core, PWM, sub-oscillator, OSC DRAW & CHOP, filter, ADSR, LFO, and stereo effects.
  • Sound Card Sink & Audio Pass-Through: Real-time USB audio VU metering, stereo oscilloscope, and frequency spectrum monitor.
  • Preset Management: Instant program changes, patch backup/export to JSON, patch randomize, and hardware parameter readback (CC 119).
  • Interactive Piano Roll & Sequencer: 25-key virtual keyboard with octave controls, latch/hold note, and acid arpeggiator sequencer.
